One of the finest venues for live bluegrass in the USA is a little rundown shack out in the country somewhere near Bostic, North Carolina known as the Green Acres Music Hall.  I have seen some great live performances, from Bruce Springsteen to Chet Atkins to Doc Watson, but none can compare to seeing New Grass Revival at Green Acres.

Newgrass Revival - one of the best live bands ever...

I witnessed three incredible shows during the mid to late 1980's with a few hundred other fired up bluegrass hippies Mondo Mandoand it is, to this day, as close as I have come to musical nirvana. Not that I don't keep trying... Green Acres is such a loose atmosphere and the fans are so into live music, that it just brings out the best in the talented improvisational musicians who often play there. If you enjoy seeing highly skilled people play in that type of setting, then Green Acres is indeed "the place to be".

Other bluegrass artists I've seen live at Green Acres Music Hall over the years include the Larry Keel Experience, the John Cowan Band, the Sam Bush Band, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Tony Trischka, Norman Blake, Byron Berline, Dan Crary, Acoustic Syndicate, David Grier and Matt Flinner, and the Dawg himself, David Grisman.

Unfortunately, there are no shows scheduled at this time for the Green Acres Music Hall.

At the shows listed above, admission is $20 (unless otherwise noted), children are admitted free, dogs are not allowed (sorry, they've been barking up the wrong trees), camping in the field out back is free with admission.

Several of the bands playing live at Green Acres Music Hall have CD's for sale at Little King Records.
So check it out!
